Ngubitj is the traditional name for ‘Water’ on Wadawurrung country the artwork here shows all the river and creek systems intertwining across Country, water is the life blood of country when our waterways are flowing our Country is thriving, the circles represent places of gathering close to these rivers, creeks and waterholes on Country, when aboriginal people gather they always gathered in circles to always have eyes on the knowledge holder/elders speaking, the many resources available provided a sustainable living landscape for Wadawurrung people for thousands of generations

Nyoora (Hello) my name is Billy-Jay O’Toole and I am a proud Wadawurrung Man and artist, I’ve been creating art from a very young age was brought up surrounded in culture by my great nan, pop and mum, my art journey has always been driven by my experiences and learnings from Country, my full time job I work as a cultural heritage specialist for my mob at Wadawurrung Traditional owners aboriginal corporation, walking country every day inspired me to step out and start sharing my artworks with the wider community to educate and bring awareness to these places on Wadawurrung Country, in 2022 I started my own art business called Papul Art it’s been running for the last few years and I’ve been given so many opportunities to have my art showcased all across my traditional lands but also on the world stage across designing supercars and AFL indigenous round jumpers my art style is contemporary which showcases elements animals and landscapes across my country.
