2019 Office Design Trends

Each year new trends are adopted in office spaces around the world, leading to some new and exciting office design opportunities. Below are some of the trends predicted to be popular in 2019.

Nature

A trend which is becoming more of a fundamental element of modern office design is the ‘Green Workplace’. Studies have shown that adding greenery in the form of indoor plants can have positive benefits for employees - the same for those who work from home. Planter boxes which can be mounted to office furniture are a great way to add a touch of nature to the office. Many of OLP’s cabinets can be fitted with planter boxes.

Colour

Colour is a big theme among office trends for 2019. This year, it’s about using strong and bold colours to make a statement. Interior design experts recommend using bold colours sparingly, just enough to lift the space and create interest. Some people think office furniture should be a neutral colour – which is fine, but why not make your office space pop with a colour customised piece of furniture? Fun colours are eye-catching to clients and can be utilised to reflect the personality of a brand within the workplace. OLP is able of colour match to any of the standard Dulux Powder Coatings Colour Range.

Rethinking the open plan office

Open plan offices have been popular over the last few years. Theoretically, they encourage interaction and collaboration, however, some studies suggest employees in open plan offices spend less time in face-to-face interactions. Experts believe the design of the workplace is what significantly influences this. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, research supports work environments opting for a combination of open spaces and divided areas. Furniture such as bookcases, storage cabinets and display cabinets  can be banked together to provide an easy solution for dividing areas and creating private spaces.

Experience-driven spaces

More businesses are predicted to implement experience-driven spaces. The design of such spaces is aimed at developing wellbeing and community for employees. These are areas where staff can go to take a break, or enjoy activities with colleagues that are non-work related. Rooms may include yoga and meditation areas, gyms, sporting areas, games rooms, cafes, and seating areas.
